In this article, you will learn how you can clean your water cooler and how quick and easy is the whole process.

1. Emptying the cooler

The first step requires you to empty the water cooler and make sure there is no residual water inside it. If you use your water cooler regularly, then your water cooler must already be empty of water but if not, then make sure you empty it.

There are chances that mold or mildew might have grown inside it due to the leftover water but it can easily be removed with a few simple tricks.

2. Wiping it out

Once you have emptied the portable water cooler, you need to wipe it clean and dry. You can use a clean rag to wipe the inside dry and in the process, you can get rid of any dirt or grime that might have stuck to the insides of your water cooler due to the standing water. Before you start cleaning your water cooler, make sure you always wipe the inside of it dry.

3. Using a detergent

If your water cooler is free of any mold and mildew, then you can simply wash it using an oil-free dish detergent. You just need to place a few drops of this detergent inside the cooler and then use warm water and sponge to scrub the insides clean.

If the opening is too small for your hand to go inside and do the cleaning, then you can fill the container with water and shake it vigorously a couple of times to clean it. You can drain the water through the faucet.

Once you have used the detergent, fill the water cooler with warm water and keep draining it through the faucet until there is no sign of any soap anymore. Then you can either let it air dry or use a cloth to wipe it dry.

4. Getting rid of the smell

A lot of times, your water cooler might smell due to the standing water but there is a simple and easy way to get rid of this smell. You can just place a few drops of the oil-free dish detergent and fill the cooler with water.

Shake the container vigorously and then let this soapy water stay in the cooler for 30 minutes. Then drain the water and fill it with clean water and drain it too. Repeat the process until all soap has been removed. If the smell still doesn’t go, then you can use a white vinegar solution to get rid of the smell.
